About Paystro

Paystro is building the cross-border financial platform of choice for connecting Africa with the UK, Canada, Europe and other global markets. We are building technology that makes moving and managing money across African and global markets simpler, faster and more accessible. Today, thousands of migrants, families and businesses use Paystro to move money across borders, pay important bills directly, and access global currencies through our secure FX marketplace. We believe where value is generated should not limit where it can be used. Whether someone earns in London and supports family in Nairobi, or builds a business in Africa that needs access to global currencies, the financial infrastructure between those markets should simply work. Our mission is to continuously simplify how money and value move between Africa and the rest of the world. We are a fast-growing fintech operating across complex, high-opportunity markets. We are nimble by design, ambitious about the scale of what we are building, and continuously expanding our products, infrastructure and market footprint.

About the role

We are looking for an Operations Associate to work closely with Paystro's CEO and, on selected priorities, our CTO across a broad range of strategic and operational initiatives. You will help turn company priorities into execution, taking ownership of initiatives that cut across operations, growth, product, partnerships and other areas of the business. Your work could involve improving a key business process, supporting a strategic partnership, analysing business performance, or coordinating teams to move an important company initiative forward. A core purpose of the role is to create leverage for the CEO by taking ownership of execution across selected priorities, enabling greater focus on company strategy, growth and long-term direction. You will work primarily with guidance from the CEO, while also supporting selected initiatives driven by the CTO, and we expect you to increasingly develop the judgement and context to move important pieces of work forward independently. This role offers close proximity to the C-team and broad exposure to how a fast-growing fintech is built and scaled. It is best suited to someone with high potential, strong curiosity and the ambition to take on significant responsibility early in their career.

What you will work on

The scope of this role is intentionally broad. You will work across company priorities based on where focused execution can have the greatest impact. You will take direction from the CEO on key initiatives and increasingly be expected to understand the objective, create structure around the work, coordinate the right people and drive it towards completion. The role combines analytical thinking, business operations, cross-functional execution and relationship management. You will work internally across Product, Growth, Engineering, Operations and Compliance, while also supporting initiatives with external partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the CEO to execute strategic and operational priorities across Paystro
  • Take ownership of selected leadership-led initiatives and help move them from idea to execution
  • Work across CEO and CTO priorities, creating structure and driving execution where focused support can have the greatest impact
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Product, Growth, Engineering and Operations to turn strategy into reality
  • Get involved in designing and improving key business processes, systems and ways of working
  • Help shape Paystro's internal operating cadence, tracking priorities, KPIs and accountability across key initiatives
  • Build clear trackers, reports and simple analytical models to create visibility around important business questions
  • Support strategic partnerships and external initiatives, including research, preparation, coordination and follow-through
  • Prepare research, briefing materials and structured recommendations to support leadership decision-making
  • Build strong working relationships across the Paystro team and help unblock execution between functions
  • Continuously look for ways to create leverage for the CEO and CTO and improve how Paystro operates

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills and an affinity for numbers, data and structured thinking
  • An owner mindset and genuine comfort taking responsibility for outcomes
  • Bias for action and an instinct to simplify complex or ambiguous problems
  • Strong people and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with different personalities, teams and external stakeholders
  • Comfortable being in the weeds when necessary while still understanding the bigger picture
  • Highly curious, hungry to learn and eager to grow in a fast-paced organisation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organise information, identify priorities and create structure from ambiguity
  • Good judgement and the confidence to ask questions or challenge assumptions when something does not make sense
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and maintain strong follow-through
  • Comfortable working independently with guidance rather than waiting for detailed instructions
  • Interest in fintech, payments, cross-border finance, African markets or building early-stage companies
  • Experience in operations, consulting, startups, project management, finance, analytics or another high-execution environment is useful but not essential
  • You do not need to tick every box to apply. We care deeply about potential, curiosity, ownership and your ability to learn quickly. If the role excites you and you believe you can grow into it, we would like to hear from you.
